EVENTS

A few big events take place in Andøy every year. Festivals and other big happenings could be well worth a visit, if you want to mingle with the locals and enjoy the local vibe. During winter, usually in February-March, the Northern Lights festival called «Nordlyst» is held, offering guests several concerts, exhibitions, and more. The weekend before Easter the alcohol-free annual festival «Rock Mot Rus» is held in the sports hall in Andenes. Drawing crowds of youths from the whole country, this is a widely renowned festival. During the summer the sea fishing festival in Andenes attracts fishing-enthusiasts from all of the country, chasing the big catch out at sea. The festival is popular due to good atmosphere as well as for the brilliant fishing conditions around the island! Summertime also offers a festive tour of musicians taking part in the annual «Festitur». Mixing music and storytelling, this has also become a popular event!
